Very good, spine ends show rubbing and some wear; This is a carbon of a bound manuscript translated from German by Cynthia Harris of the book, "Von Bau der Kirche" (On Building the Church) , a book that has had several printings in Germany since its original publication in 1938, the last being in 1998. Its author, Rudolf Schwarz is an pre-eminent architect and theorist in church architecture, using modern modalities infused with Biblical directives towards spirituality. This English-language manuscript is probably only one of several that were made, and thus is extremely rare. It is printed on onionskin paper with the 61 individual black-and-white plates tipped on to individual leaves opposite the copy to which they pertain, and the contents include The Foundation, The First Six Plans, each explicated at length, and then the Seventh Plan, and culminating in The Test, with an appendix. There is also an invitation by the translator and a translation of the preface to the original German edition by Romano Guardino. ; 61 Hand-Tipped B/w Illustrations; 457 pp. pages
